FFA students shine at Pennsylvania State Convention

Members of the Spud Growers FFA Chapter at Coudersport Area School District recently earned impressive honors at the 2026 Pennsylvania FFA Convention, demonstrating their skills, leadership and commitment to agricultural education through a variety of Career and Leadership Development events.

According to a post shared on the Coudersport Area School District Facebook page, students competed in events covering wildlife management, aquatics, environmental and natural resources, employment skills, agricultural education and maple production. Their strong performances highlighted both individual achievement and teamwork at the state level.

Among the chapter’s top accomplishments, Alexis Risser earned third place and a gold rating in the Agricultural Education Career Development Event, while Olivia Dunn captured third place and a gold rating in the Maple Career Development Event. The chapter’s Maple team also secured second place overall, showcasing the depth of knowledge and preparation of Coudersport’s FFA members.

Students also earned recognition in Wildlife Career Development Events, Environmental and Natural Resources competitions, Employment Skills Leadership Development Events and Chapter Delegate activities. These achievements reflect the dedication of students who have worked to develop expertise in agriculture, natural resource management, leadership and career readiness.

Beyond the awards, participation in FFA competitions provides valuable opportunities for students to build confidence, strengthen public speaking and problem-solving skills, and apply classroom learning to real-world situations. Programs like FFA help prepare students for future careers while fostering leadership and service within their communities.

The district also joined in congratulating Headwaters FFA member Kayla Hyde on her election as the 2026–27 Pennsylvania FFA Secretary, recognizing the continued strength of agricultural education programs across the region.
