Teachers lift students’ spirits with personal delivery

When Richland Elementary School went all-virtual because of COVID this fall, a group of kindergarten and first-grade teachers decided to go the extra mile to help students engage with learning material and encourage them during at-home learning. The teachers went out into the surrounding community and personally delivered activities to students at their homes, reported news outlet WJAC and the district’s social media. The activities, which required students to use scissors, glue, crayons and similar materials, were designed to supplement students’ virtual lessons and provide opportunities for hands-on learning and development of small motor skills. According to the article, the visits put a smile on many students’ faces as they waved to their teachers through windows or from porches.
