Eighth grade students at Springdale Jr.-Sr. High School participate in Junior Achievement Day

Eighth grade students at Springdale Jr.-Sr. High School recently gained hands-on business experience during Junior Achievement Day, an event that connected classroom learning with real-world career skills.

Working alongside volunteers from PPG, students collaborated to develop business plans for mock companies while learning about entrepreneurship, teamwork and strategic decision-making. According to a post shared on the Allegheny Valley School District Facebook page, the experience gave students the opportunity to practice the process of starting and managing a business.

The district also recognized PPG volunteers Vince Rayburg, Sharon Bird — a 1991 Springdale graduate — Louis Bouselli and Sarah Mueller for mentoring students throughout the event. Their guidance helped students strengthen problem-solving, communication and leadership skills while exploring future career pathways.

Programs like Junior Achievement Day demonstrate the value of partnerships between schools and local businesses in preparing Pennsylvania students for success both in and beyond the classroom.
