Seneca Valley students create mural celebrating Black History Month

In honor of Black History Month, students at Seneca Valley Intermediate High School (IHS) recently participated in meaningful “Snack and Learn” sessions at the IHS LIGHT Center.

Junior Leah Boston led a powerful student presentation highlighting the significance of Black History Month and the extraordinary impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Students also collaborated on a dynamic mural that celebrated influential Black leaders and changemakers, using art as a creative expression of appreciation and awareness.

In addition, students watched a documentary about the Freedom House Ambulance Service. Founded in Pittsburgh, the Freedom House Ambulance Service was the nation’s first emergency medical service staffed by African Americans, whose members were considered some of the most highly trained emergency medical practitioners in the country.
