PMEA Junior High Band Fest

Last month, 24 Seneca Valley Band students were selected to participate in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 5 Junior High Band Fest at Hopewell High School.

The Band Fest featured two concert bands that diligently rehearsed during the day with a successful performance in the evening. The concert included a wide variety of music from slow beautiful music to faster music from the movie “The Incredibles.”

The seventh and eighth grade ensemble showcased 11 SV students and was conducted by Mr. Mark Godwin from Geneva College. Participants included Camden Armstrong-alto saxophone, Willow Campbell-flute, Emma Gallie-clarinet, Quintin Hixon-trombone, Rileigh Karns-french horn, Ella King-clarinet, Anna Livorse-french horn, Anthony Livorse-tuba, Eli Scanlan-trombone, Imogen Tomo-trombone and Mac Wilson-percussion.

The ninth grade ensemble also featured 13 SV students and was directed by Dr. Jason Worzbyt from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Student members included Jordan Courtney-trumpet, Josh Hardy-flute, Brynn Houser-clarinet, Maddy Karns-alto saxophone, Emmelyn Kaye-clarinet, Jeb Kellar-trombone, Annabelle Obyc-flute, Riley Relich-trombone, John Rieger-trumpet, Lola Schwendemann-french horn, Ellie Stewart-flute, Claire Thompson-flute and Autumn Zacherl-flute.

Students are led by Mr. Varden Armstrong, Mr. Robert Babick, Ms. Sara Snyder and Mr. Brian Croach, secondary instrumental instructors.
