Players earn All-State honors

Two members of the Meyersdale Red Raider Varsity football team were recently honored by the Pennsylvania Football Writers with all-state honors. Trey Bolyard and Lance Jones earned Class 1A honors as All-State Defensive Lineman and All-State Athlete respectively. Both seniors, these young men boasted outstanding stats during the 2025 football season.

Jones, a Salisbury student, who participates in the co-op program with MAHS, completed 97 of 171 passes for 1,551 yards, 13 touchdowns and 11 picks. Jones also rushed for 370 yards and six touchdowns. He produced 1,921 yards of total offense.

Bolyard boasted 75 total tackles and a team-high 11½ sacks. This was Bolyard’s first year playing football and he quickly became a top performer for the team. Bolyard also forced three fumbles and had six fumble recoveries from his defensive end position.

“Trey playing football for the first time is such a great story. We were very fortunate to have him on the 2025 team. He bought into the coaching that he was provided with to learn the defensive end position. He used his speed, athleticism, and strength to allow his game to take off,” explained Head Coach Ryan Donaldson.

“Lance has shown great leadership as a four-year starter on defense and 3-year starter at quarterback. He was like having a coach on the field on both sides of the ball. He had great skill sets to play high school football at a high level.”

Donaldson said both young men are most deserving of these honors and each played integral roles to the success the Red Raiders enjoyed this year. “Lance and Trey are both very deserving of this All-State recognition after what they brought to a district championship team.”
