Pittsburgh Public Schools Fall Fest 2020

Pittsburgh Public Schools (PPS) and the Boys & Girls Club of Western PA provided an alternative to trick-or-treating and Fall fun with the first-ever PPS Fall Fest. More than 600 PPS families visited Pittsburgh Faison to pick up food, treat bags, cloth masks, cloth masks, and brand-new Rue 21 merchandise. Special guests included Superintendent Dr. Anthony Hamlet, Board President Sylvia Wilson and State Representative Ed Gainey.

Community partners, such as Single Mom Defined, WAMO100, the Office of State Representative Edward C. Gainey, Eat’n Park Hospitality Group and Small Seeds Development, Inc., played a huge role in the event’s success.

During a global pandemic, Pittsburgh Public Schools families were afforded an opportunity to have a safe, social distancing option for Halloween. For families unable to purchase additional amenities like clothes, accessories, hats, shoes, socks, jewelry, phone cases, they had access to over 50,000 items all, at no cost. This event was the first time many PPS families had entered a school building since March 13.
