Pittsburgh Public Schools and Paragon Foods team up to feed families
Pittsburgh Public Schools will continue their food distribution partnership with Paragon Foods to help provide for the needs of students and families during the pandemic. For the month of October, Paragon Foods will distribute boxes of fresh vegetables, meat, and dairy products every weekday in the parking lots at five schools in the district. Food will be placed in each family’s car/trunk on a first-come, first-serve basis.
From May through August, Paragon, a regional supplier of fresh and specialty foods, distributed bags of fresh vegetables at schools every Thursday.
In a KDKA article about the initiative, Rebecca Davis, the food services supervisor for Pittsburgh Public Schools’ high schools, said, “This feels amazing,” said “It’s wonderful being able to service our community. It makes me feel good being able to provide for families in need.”
