Music teacher wins award for district 5

PMEA Citation of Excellence

Mrs. Tracy Glass has an unwavering dedication and commitment to the art of music and her many accomplishments will be noted as she makes her way to Erie, PA, to accept the 2024 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) Citation of Excellence in Teaching Award for District 5!

Mrs. Glass currently serves as an instrumental instructor for students in grades 4-6 at Seneca Valley, as well as a director of beginner band, fifth grade band and sixth grade band performance ensembles. In her roles, she supports students at three schools: Connoquenessing Valley Elementary School and Ehrman Crest Elementary/Middle School. In addition, Mrs. Glass orchestrates special ensembles, summer music camps and special music performances for the students in her school(s).

“I am incredibly proud of Mrs. Glass for earning this recognition,” said Ehrman Crest Middle School Principal, Mr. Tim Eiler. “She embodies and represents the spirit of our music program and school. Her passion for excellence and her ability to convey a top tier learning experience for our students set her apart.”

Mrs. Glass is dedicated to her profession and is an advocate for the arts and student success. In addition to directing band for grades 4-6, Mrs. Glass is often found organizing opportunities for additional performances throughout the year. Her students play ensembles at local events, Pittsburgh Pirate games and even in the school hallways during the holidays.

“I am honored to receive the 2024 PMEA Citation of Excellence in Teaching Award for District 5,” said Mrs. Glass. “I am thankful every day that I have the opportunity to teach young band students and help them discover their potential through music. It is humbling to be recognized for the work I do.”
