Kindergarten Students Science Experiment With Soap

Kindergarten serves as a pivotal bridge between the playful exploration of early childhood and the structure of primary education. At Rockwood, we believe this foundational year should be as joyful and enriching as it is transformative.

During the opening weeks, our focus is on building a safe, inclusive classroom community. We guide students as they adjust to new daily routines, develop trust, and learn the rhythms of the school day. While establishing crucial building blocks in math and literacy, such as mastering the alphabet, we ensure every lesson is infused with hands-on, interactive fun that sparks curiosity and nurtures a lifelong love for learning.

Last week, our youngest learners dove into the letter “S.” They practiced writing both uppercase and lowercase “S,” mastered its phonetic sound, brainstormed “S” words, and hunted for classroom objects matching the letter. For a creative twist, they even crafted mischievous paper snakes to decorate their rooms.

The highlight of the week was turning “S” week into a hands-on science experiment. Students put different soaps to the test—comparing store-bought hand soap, school soap, and bubble solution. Armed with straws and smooth surfaces, they blew bubbles to see which formula produced the biggest results. The verdict? Store-bought hand soap took the crown as the ultimate bubble maker, leaving our Kindergartners captivated by the magic of science!
