Junior high students selected for County Band

Several Junior High musicians were selected to perform in the 2023 County Band Festival.

The music department at Meyersdale Area Middle and High School enjoyed superb representation at the 2023 Somerset County Music Educators Association 2023 Band Festival held November 29 and 30 at Berlin Brothersvalley High School.

The following musicians participated in the Junior High County Band: Jade Murray, flute I; Addison Fisher, flute I; Mallory Emerick, flute I; Addison Kennell, flute 1; Abigail Homa, flute II; Jadin Elsea, clarinet II; Karlee Dellone, alto saxophone; Leah Boyce, alto saxophone; Macey Logsdon, alto saxophone; Megan Peters, baritone saxophone; Isabella Donica, baritone saxophone; Jackson Johnson, trumpet II; Bella Delawder, horn; and Rayne Stevanus, tuba.

Mr. Larry Sarvey served as the guest conductor for the Junior High County Band. Sarvey has been teaching music in the Bedford County Schools for the past 15 years. Currently, he teaches four ensembles including 6th grade band, 7th/8th grade band, senior high band and jazz band.

After two days of rigorous rehearsal, students then presented the following selections during the November 30 public concert: “Fortress of Stone,” “Me (ReAffirmation)” and “Zombie Tango.” Participating schools included: Meyersdale, Berlin Brothersvalley, Johnstown Christian, North Star, Rockwood Area, Salisbury-Elk Lick, Shade, Shanksville-Stonycreek, Somerset Area, Turkeyfoot and Windber Area.
