Cat Coders Envisioning the Future

On April 2, 2026, the Huntingdon Area School District hosted a community stakeholder breakfast provided by our food service partner, The Nutrition Group, to share the vision and thank current partners. The community members learned about the Public School Promise, which the district will use to help refine its vision during the next comprehensive plan.

The School Public Promise from the National Association of School Administrators is the district’s commitment to providing every child in our community with access to a highly effective education that prepares them for college, careers, and real-life experiences. Five principles base the promise: prioritizing student-centered learning, teaching real skills for life, attracting and retaining excellent staff, building strong family and community partnerships, and measuring outcomes that matter. This framework reflects the district’s dedication to ensuring equitable and effective education for all students.

The community partners learned about the district’s current efforts to prepare students for life beyond graduation by building strong career pathways and workforce partnerships. District students from the Bearcat Institute of Learning (BILD) and our STEM Cat Coders discussed and demonstrated how these two programs support these goals during the event. Additionally, a video created by student intern Molly Millar, which illustrates that students are included in these goals, was shared to highlight our special education students’ efforts to be future-ready Bearcats, coinciding with World Autism Acceptance Day. The program concluded with an opportunity for participants to consider the role they can play in rethinking how schools operate to better meet students’ needs today by completing a “community partner feedback card.”

The district is just getting started with our promise and is looking forward to envisioning the district’s future in education in collaboration with our community.
