The MAHS Cross Country captured the ICC Championship title in their first year in this league.

Three Red Raider athletic programs were honored on November 22 during the annual Inter-County Conference (ICC) Fall Banquet held at the Altoona Park Hill Golf Club. Meyersdale Area School District Director of Athletics Craig Gindlesperger accepted the championship plaque for the MAHS Boys Cross Country team. Plaques were also presented to the Junior High Football and Junior High Volleyball teams as ICC runners-up in their respective sports.

“I am pleased that our athletic programs have met the new challenges presented to us being our first year in the ICC. The competition is much greater than in the past with so many more teams in the conference. The ICC houses 21 total teams from PIAA Districts 5,6 and 9. Our former conference had 13 schools when we departed,” Gindlesperger explained. “As the Director of Athletics, I would anticipate that Meyersdale continues to provide quality competition for the conference we now reside.”

The Red Raider Boys Cross Country team was honored for capturing the 2023 ICC Championship title. The team completed the season undefeated, with a record of 11-0.

Coach Mike Swick said the pride he has in these athletes is immeasurable.

“I’m very proud of this group. Our runners put in a lot of miles and hard work from June through November. We had quite a few new opponents this year and new courses. Our runners rose to the challenges,” he explained.
