Burgettstown hosts virtual Turkey Trot

Burgettstown Area School District  |  Posted on

For the past 27 years Burgettstown Area School District has held the Turkey Trot. This Thanksgiving Day event raises the bulk of the funding for kids in the cross country and track and field programs. Runners and walkers alike are challenged by “the Hill,” the final uphill battle to return to the school and cross the finish line. In addition, the annual Turkey Trot is supported by more than a dozen local businesses.

This year the beloved community event will have to be held virtually due to COVID-19, however, the district is asking participants to post pictures and times on social media. The kids on the cross country and track and field teams will be posting their encouragement and thanks, as well as pulling some names of racers for some thank-you prizes. The district looks forward to connecting with the community during the Turkey Trot, albeit in a different way!
