Academic Decathlon team advances to state championships
The Seneca Valley Academic Decathlon Team clinched first place at the Western Pennsylvania Regional Competition that was held February 2-3 at the Seneca Valley Senior High School. The team had a remarkable score of 40,422 points and earned numerous medals across a range of subjects.

“The team has a rigorous preparation routine that includes thrice-weekly after-school practices, engaging study sessions through PowerPoints, Kahoots and flashcard quizzes aimed at making learning enjoyable and effective,” said Seneca Valley Senior High School Teacher and Academic Decathlon coach David Reichard. “This preparation strategy not only bolstered their knowledge in written events and subject areas but also significantly enhanced their skills in Speech and Interview segments.”
Seneca Valley’s Academic Decathlon Team is advancing to the Pennsylvania State Competition scheduled for March 8-9 at Carlisle High School, with aspirations of advancing to the National United States Academic Decathlon Competition in Pittsburgh.
