District chorus SV Performers

Congratulations to the 21 SV Chorus students who represented Seneca Valley in Hermitage at Hickory High School for the Pennsylvania Music Education Association (PMEA) District Chorus! Over 50 school districts participated in the event held January 8-10. The choir was conducted by Dr. Lisa Wong, a distinguished choral conductor and educator who serves as the director of choruses for the Cleveland Orchestra.

The choir received thunderous applause and a standing ovation as the full-house audience enjoyed diverse song selections ranging from Haitian and German to classical and modern. Students from Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties collaborated for an experience they will never forget.

“Dr. Wong demonstrated a generous amount of choral experience to help students grow,” said Bobi-Jean Alexander, SV choir director. “More importantly, seeing students from so many schools come together as one to make music, make new friends and perform a great concert is heartwarming and gratifying!”

Seneca Valley participants in grades 10-12 included: Nathan Capizzi, Bernardo Casimiro Vilas Boas, Hannah Callender, Morgan Clay, Arthur Covell, Aydan Danylo, Jacob Harding, Jacob Hensler, Quintin Hixon, Lincoln Hugus, Autumn Holmes, Madelynn Karns, Shayla Kemp, Jacob Maietta, Jacqueline Matchett, Evan Reckless, John Rieger, Morgan Stanton, Madelyn Tresky, Layne Vandenburgh and Jayden Wiedmeyer.

In addition, 14 of these students qualified to move on to the regional level of competition taking place later this month! Congratulations to all!
