Two McDowell students named National Merit Semifinalists

Two McDowell High School students have been acknowledged as semifinalists for the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program. This designation places them both in the running for the prestigious awards expected to be released in the Spring of 2027. McDowell staff celebrated students Connor Person and Hunter Rudd, who demonstrated their academic excellence on the qualifying test, with a surprise announcement. They were presented with their certificates and gift certificates for a treat at McDowell’s Blue Bean Cafe.
