West Scranton Intermediate provides meals to community
On Sunday, November 24, the staff at West Scranton Intermediate School (WSIS) hosted a full Thanksgiving Dinner for students, their families and the broader community. Using funds raised from a Halloween Dance and Haunted House, WSIS School Security Officer (SSO) Parris Price, food service workers, teachers and Principal Angela Keating were able to cook and serve 182 meals to the community. For four hours, the doors of the school were open for take out meals, or the option to sit and enjoy their meal in the company of others.
SSD food service providers spent the day before the event cooking and prepping food. The event had turkey, mashed potatoes, collard greens, candied yams, mac and cheese, green beans, three different pies, two different cobblers, and corn muffins for those who stopped by for a meal.
