Palmerton hosts Carbon County Academic Bowl

The Carbon County Academic Bowl was held on March 14, 2024, at Palmerton Area Senior High School. At this event, Carbon County Scholastic Scrimmage teams competed against each other. The final round of the day’s competition was moderated by PA State Representative Doyle Heffley. Guest judges for the competition were all retired teachers from Carbon County.

“This used to be an annual event, but it stopped when schools closed due to COVID. I really wanted to resurrect this competition because it’s an important event for Carbon County school districts. The students enjoy competing against each other, and Palmerton was honored to host this year’s event,” said Mr. Alex Knoll, Palmerton Area Senior High School mathematics teacher and Scholastic Scrimmage advisor.

After several rounds of competition, the results were as follows:
First place: Panther Valley School District
Second place: Lehighton Area School District
Third place: Weatherly Area School District
