Terminology

Administrators: Includes only full-time employees whose primary responsibilities involve supervision and/or coordination or district programs and/or operations.

Career and technical center: The regional school for career and technical education in which the school district participates in the school’s governance.

College bound: The percentage of graduates who plan on attending a 2- or 4- year college or university.

English Learners: The percentage of enrolled students whose native or first language is not English and are receiving instruction in a language instruction educational program (LIEP).

Ethnicity/Gender: The percentage of total students who reported belonging to one of the listed demographic groups.

Federal revenues: Include all grants, subsidies and other payments received from the federal government.

Graduation rate: The percentage of students who graduate from high school four years after entering ninth grade (four-year cohort graduation rate).

Intermediate unit: The regional educational service agency which the school district is assigned.

Local revenues: Includes all revenues collected from taxes levied by the school district for its use, such as taxes on real estate and earned income.

Median home value: Represents the estimated value of a typical home within the school district according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Median household income: Represents the estimated annual income of a typical household within the school district according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Other revenues: Includes proceeds from long-term debt financing agreements, receipt from other funds of the district and proceeds from the sale or compensation for the loss of fixed assets.

Postsecondary bound: The percentage of graduates who plan on attending a non-degree granting postsecondary school or a specialized associates degree granting institution.

Property taxes collected by district: The total amount collected from taxes levied on real property in the school district.

PSSA and Keystone Results: The percentage of school district students scoring advanced or proficient on the annual Pennsylvania System of School Assessments (PSSA) or Keystone Exams.

Rigorous courses: The number of unique Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) or dual credit courses offered during grades 7-12 in one of the following core content subject areas: Arts, English Language Arts, History and Social Sciences, Math and Computer Science, Science and Engineering, and World Language and Culture.

Special education: The percentage of enrolled students receiving specially designed instruction consistent with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

State revenues: Includes all grants, subsidies and other payments received from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania such as Basic Education Funding.

Support: Includes only full-time employees whose primary responsibilities are of a support nature such as administrative support and instructional aides.

Teachers: Includes only full-time classroom teachers whose primary responsibilities includes providing direct instruction to students.

Total students: The total number of children enrolled and attending a school within the school district.
