Jake Norotsky presents two students, Emyajah Gilbert and Dayisah Imbert, with a Character Coin.

Jake Norotsky, a United States Army veteran and motivational speaker from the Wounded Warrior Project, visited Armstrong Middle School to speak to a group of students about his experiences in the military, and the impact Armstrong’s fundraising efforts have had on him and other military families. In the Army for 14 years, Norotsky served in Iraq and was the crew chief on a Blackhawk helicopter. He now travels the country speaking to students about the importance of service to others.

Norotsky spoke to the students about leadership and service to others and encouraged all of them to the “Choose 3” challenge. This is a challenge to choose three people in their life to be there for and check in on them about their daily life and challenges they may be facing.

He also presented two of students, Emyajah Gilbert and Dayisah Imbert, who had been selected by staff, with a Character Coin. They were selected to receive these coins because they both demonstrate strong character and leadership qualities.

Armstrong has raised over $3,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project led by the efforts of Mrs. Gravuer, a 7th-grade History teacher at Armstrong.
