President’s Cup award winners

Two recent SV graduates, Paityn Armstrong and Shivani Umesh, were awarded the President’s Cup as part of the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) piano festival program. The festival cup system is based on points earned annually through adjudications. In order to earn the President’s Cup, a student must earn 12 years of consecutive superior ratings in piano solo festivals. This achievement is very rare as it not only requires musical excellence, but also long-standing dedication and commitment. Paityn and Shivani are both students of Mrs. Linda Maurhoff and are the only two students in the local NFMC festival area to earn this achievement.

NFMC is a national music club that provides opportunities for musical study, performance and appreciation to more than 90,000 senior, student and junior members in 5,200 music-related clubs and organizations nationwide. Members are professional and amateur musicians, vocalists, composers, dancers, performing artists, arts and music educators, music students, generous music patrons and benefactors, and music lovers of all ages.
