Truman Drama selected to pilot ‘Beetlejuice’
Truman Drama has once again been chosen by MTI, Music Theatre International, to pilot a new show! Harry S. Truman High School, along with a few other high schools in the world, will present the high school pilot of the musical Beetlejuice in 2026.
“The cast and crew will have many opportunities to work with new techniques and exhaust their creative solutions to bring this show to life in the Lou Volpe auditorium,” said theatre educator Tracey Gatte.
The ghost-with-the-most comes to the stage in this edgy and irreverent musical comedy based on Tim Burton’s dearly beloved film. Beetlejuice tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a strange and unusual teenager obsessed with the whole “being dead thing.” Lucky for Lydia, her new house is haunted by a recently deceased couple and Beetlejuice, a delightful demon with a real zest for life. When Lydia calls on Beetlejuice to scare away anyone with a pulse, this double-crossing specter shows his true stripes, unleashing a (Nether)world of pandemonium, and the biggest sandworm Broadway has ever seen.
Since Beetlejuice is for ages 10 and older, Truman Drama will postpone The Lightning Thief and choose a smaller, family-friendly show in the spring.
Truman Drama is also planning to take the cast and crew to see the return of
Beetlejuice this fall or winter in New York City.
