Teacher plants seeds of learning

Second-graders learn all about apples
Students in Mrs. Witek’s second-grade classroom at Trafford Elementary School in the Penn-Trafford School District spent a mid-October day exploring apples through various discovery centers. They learned about the life cycle of an apple from seed to fruit, made construction-paper caramel apples, made predictions doing experiments such as an apple volcano, and used all five senses to describe three different kinds of apples. It was a day filled with creativity, teamwork, and fun – and the class looks forward to future discovery centers with Mrs. Witek.
