Summer enrichment prepares students for the fall
Juniata Valley School District is being creatively proactive about addressing learning loss students may have experienced during the pandemic. This summer, the district plans to offer K-12 students extended in-person instructional activities at their current grade level to ensure preparation and advancement for the start of the 2021-22 school year, according to a letter from Superintendent Michael Zinobile. The optional summer enrichment program, called P.R.E.P. (Promoting Real Educational Progress), will run from 8:30-12:30 p.m. on June 7-10 and June 14-17. Teachers will provide instruction in math and English at the schools. Students will not be graded on their work, although progress reports will be communicated to parents and guardians after the conclusion of the program. All students are encouraged to participate to ensure preparedness as they enter a new academic year.
