Students win awards in Model UN Conferences
Three Fox Chapel Area High School students won awards in January and February 2025 Model United Nations (UN) conferences. The purpose of the Model UN conferences is to enable students to role-play and simulate the countries in the United Nations. As a part of the conferences, students debate and try to solve global problems from the perspectives of other countries.
A Fox Chapel Area High School senior won an award at the Duquesne University Model UN Conference. Arnim Kuchhal was named the Outstanding Delegate, equivalent to second place. Approximately 240 students representing 18 public and private high schools from Western Pennsylvania participated in the Duquesne University Model UN Conference. The event was held January 17 at Duquesne University.
Two Fox Chapel Area High School students won awards at the 12th annual American University Model UN Conference. Senior Benjamin Fiedler won the Best Delegate award, equivalent to first place, and junior Zachary Rubin won an honorable mention award, equivalent to third place. Approximately 850 students representing 53 secondary schools from nine states and four other countries participated in the American University Model UN Conference. This event was held January 31-February 2 at American University in Washington, D.C
