Students stock ‘closet’ with items for peers in need

The Cowanesque Valley (CV) High School Child Development class noticed several students in their building were not getting some of their material needs met, like clothing and hygiene products. This class found a space in the school to set up a store, all items at no cost, for the students. The grand opening of the CV Closet involved many donations and hours of sorting and organizing. Every student in the school was invited to take what they needed. This was to eliminate the stigma some students feel when asking for help. Physical needs were met, but so much more happened. At a time when people are feeling isolated and divided, this act of caring meet emotional needs as well. It brought the whole student body together.
