Student leaders paint their way to success

Members of S. S. Palmer’s Student Lighthouse Team worked with school employees to paint various areas inside the school. Students worked to brighten the cafeteria, hallways, and classrooms with a variety of drawings. Also included in the paintings were leadership messages that helped to highlight the Leader in Me model and seven habits. Although teachers helped and provided guidance, the majority of the painting was completed by the students.
“This is the perfect example of how students, even at the elementary level, can be active leaders in the school district. As educators, it is our responsibility to provide all students with the opportunity to develop these leadership skills,” said Dr. Jodi Frankelli, Palmerton Area School District’s superintendent.
“I am extremely proud of the hard work and dedication of our students and employees. They worked together to foster a warm and welcoming start to the school year. Even students who ‘graduated’ from S. S. Palmer Elementary and were now junior high students came back to assist,” said Mr. Ralph Andrews, S. S. Palmer Elementary School’s principal.
