Student gives the gift of kindness

At R. A. Lutz Elementary, kindness is at the heart of the school community. Every day, students show compassion and generosity, but sometimes, a student goes above and beyond.
During last month’s winter coat drive, fourth grader Nicholas Marino did just that — not only by helping others but also as a special way to celebrate his mom’s fiftieth birthday. “He wanted to buy me a gift, and I told him the greatest gift of all is an act of kindness,” his mother shared. Taking that to heart, Nicholas proudly donated coats, embracing the true spirit of giving.
“It’s wonderful for my son to be part of a school that encourages kindness,” she added. His enthusiasm for helping others was truly inspiring, reflecting the values teachers strive to instill in all students.
Beyond school, Nicholas continues to give back, regularly volunteering with his mom. Whether donating food to retirement homes, delivering meals to churches or assisting those in need, his commitment to service shines.
