Ten Seneca Valley chorus members in grades 11-12 recently participated in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) Region Chorus held March 19-21, at Waynesburg University. The chorus festival comprises students from Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Lawrence, Mercer, Washington and Westmoreland counties. Dr. Daniel Singer, a professor at the University who currently directs choirs for the Pittsburgh Symphony, selected the music which included selections written in Hindustani, German, Latin and English.

“This was a great regional choir group who learned much more difficult music than normally seen at this level,” said high school choir director Ms. Bobi-Jean Alexander. “They performed an incredibly energetic and impressive concert.”

Based on audition results at the festival, the following students will be advancing to the All-State Choir Festival in April: Ayla Alexander, Addison Grassa, Isaac Hixon, Madelynn Karns, Madeleine Tomo and Madelyn Tresky.

Participants included Ayla Alexander, Aydan Danylo, Addison Grassa, Isaac Hixon, Madelynn Karns, Shayla Kemp, Jacob Maietta, John Rieger, Madeleine Tomo and Madelyn Tresky.
