Seniors and kindergarteners pair up for ‘Best day ever’!

Kindergarten students are being presented with their handmade monster projects.
When given the opportunity to select their next project, Mrs. Brant’s Senior High Family and Consumer Sciences class (FACS), enthusiastically teamed up with the kindergarten students. A key advantage of having a K-12 school under one roof is the sense of community it fosters across different age groups. This collaboration was a perfect example. Kindergartners took on the role of artists by designing their own monsters, which became blueprints for the high schoolers, who acted as artisans to transform those two-dimensional drawings into actual creations. What began as a simple idea evolved into what the kindergartners called the “BEST DAY EVER.” The FACS students used the children’s artwork to craft truly original gifts, turning imagination into reality. The high school students shared the excitement. “It was cool seeing the picture come to life”, said Ryan Kinney a Rockwood senior in the class. Each monster was then hand-delivered to its creator, forming a special connection that bridged the gap between kindergarten and grades 10–12.
