Two Seneca Valley students are among the 706 students nationwide to be named a 2026 Carson Scholar. Dahlia Marcin, Seneca Valley Intermediate High School sophomore and Beckett Lowry, Haine Middle School sixth grader have earned this prestigious distinction; a recognition of their outstanding academic excellence and commitment to service.

With this honor, these students will receive a $1,000 scholarship award that will be invested for their college education, along with a medal and certificate. They will be formally recognized at the Carson Scholars Fund’s Annual Pittsburgh Awards Banquet on Sunday, April 12, 2026.

“We are so proud of Dahlia for being named a Carson Scholar,” said Dr. Chet Henderson, Seneca Valley Intermediate High School Principal. “This remarkable recognition celebrates not only her academic success but also her compassion, leadership and commitment to making a positive impact in her community.”

According to the Carson Scholars Fund, Miss Marcin and Mr. Lowry were selected because they demonstrate the highest standards of academic excellence, leadership, and civic and social responsibility.

“We are incredibly proud of Beckett for being named a Carson Scholar,” said Dr. Erin Wilcher, Haine Middle School Principal. “This honor recognizes his exceptional academic achievement and dedication to serving his community, and his hard work and success are truly inspiring!”
