Seneca Valley student named 2024 Carson Scholar
The Seneca Valley School District is proud to recognize Haine Middle School fifth grader Yasmeen Fahs, who has recently been announced as a 2024 Carson Scholar.
Miss Fahs is one of 570 students across the nation who have the coveted honor of being named a Carson Scholar. With this honor, she will receive a $1,000 scholarship award that will be invested for her college education and be formally recognized at the 20th annual Carson Scholars Fund’s Pittsburgh Awards Banquet on Sunday, April 7, 2024.
“Yasmeen shines brightly as a remarkable young lady and inspiration for her peers,” said Haine Middle School Principal, Dr. Erin Wilcher. “The Carson Scholars Award not only acknowledges her outstanding intellect, but her balance of creativity and kindness. We couldn’t be prouder of her achievements.”
According to the Carson Scholars Fund, Miss Fahs was selected because she demonstrates the highest standards of academic achievement, integrity, and civic and social responsibility.
“I am very excited and honored to have been selected as a Carson Scholar recipient,” said Miss Fahs. “It feels amazing to be noticed for my academic achievements as well as my help around the community to make it a cleaner, safer place for everyone. This award brings me closer to my future goal of becoming an astronaut or a scientist. It could not have happened without support of my parents and teachers – thank you, it means a lot to me!”
