Seneca Valley Raider Roast is open for business!

Last week, SV Raider Roast opened its window for business! Located in the Senior High School, Raider Roast is operated by Seneca Valley (SV) staff and student workers in the Vocational Readiness class. Students take on roles as cashiers, prep workers and baristas while learning workplace skills, including following food safety guidelines and working as part of a team. This year, student workers are supported by SV Transition Specialist Ms. Liz Wimer and students in the College in High School (CHS) Introduction to Special Education class.

The shop has proven to be a favorite on the secondary campus and students enjoy working together in an inclusive environment. “Being part of Raider Roast has been one of the most fulfilling experiences for me,” said Ainsley Wheland, a senior CHS Intro to Special Education student. “Getting to help the students learn and grow while learning from them myself is something that I’ll always be grateful for.”

“I enjoy seeing the growth in the students and their confidence blooming! They are always a light in my day,” added senior Jordan Lauer. “It’s extra special for me because I get to work with my brother in the coffee shop!”

Raider Roast student workers, like Jordan’s brother Max, enjoy making new menu items and meeting new friends. “I work with friends and make drinks for friends,” said Joel Speicher, a Raider Roast employee in the Vocational Readiness class. “I like the boba!”

Gabe Hort, a senior Raider Roast employee agreed that meeting new people and making drinks for them is his favorite part of the program. We look forward to another school year of smiles, new friends and fresh brewed beverages.
