Seneca Valley All-Staff Welcome Back event features first female Blue Angels pilot

Seneca Valley School District welcomed staff back for the 2026-27 school year during its annual All-Staff Welcome Back meeting on Monday, August 17, with the theme “Cleared for Takeoff” setting the tone for a new year of learning, leadership and excellence.

The program opened with a presentation of colors by Seneca Valley JROTC students, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and national anthem performed by members of Seneca Valley’s Barbershop and Beauty Shop Quintet groups and Seneca Valley American Sign Language Club interpreter Lanie Koliscak.

Staff then heard remarks from district officials and keynote speaker Lt. Col. Katie Cook, a trailblazing leader and the first female pilot in the history of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels. Cook delivered an inspirational message centered on building excellence through the “three Ms” — Motivation, Minutia and Mistakes — while encouraging staff to lead with resilience and heart.

The program concluded with a special recognition of local veterans, active-duty military personnel and first responders in attendance, honoring their service and commitment to Seneca Valley families, staff and the greater community.

The district extends its sincere appreciation to the Seneca Valley Foundation for sponsoring the keynote speaker and helping make the event possible.

Seneca Valley looks forward to carrying the “Cleared for Takeoff” message throughout the 2026-27 school year as staff and students begin another year of learning, growth and achievement.
