Scrabble tournament grand champions

The Meyersdale Elementary and Middle School Scrabble teams had an outstanding day at the 38th Annual Somerset County Scrabble Tournament held May 1 at the Stoystown American Legion. The Overall Grand Champion title was won by Cameron Shultz and Gibson Hoover, both fifth graders. The team of Ashton Miller and Carter Bennett were the sixth grade tournament champions. Eighth grade participants included: Adalynn Smith, Ava Steinburg, Mylie Trowbridge, Lillian Eyer, Aubree Kenner and Briella Hetz. Seventh grade participants included: Jewelia Housel, Brinlee Lane, Allie Miller and Katana Donaldson. Sixth grade participants were: Ashton Miller, Carter Bennet, Natalie Murray and Jaleigh Anderson. Fifth grade participants included: Cameron Shultz, Gibson Hoover, Lincoln Arnold and Channing Christner. Fourth grade participants were: Mya Arnold, Tatum Arnold, Grayson Beeman and Austin Sines. The teams competed against students from North Star, Rockwood, Somerset, Conemaugh Township and St. Peter’s Catholic School. Congratulations to all competitors and our champions!
