The School Nutrition Association (SNA) of Pennsylvania nominated Brandon Lang, food service director of Bristol Township School District, as its representative in SNA’s Future Leaders Program. The program was held in conjunction with the SNA National Leadership Conference, held April 24-26 in Columbus, Ohio.
Lang had a great experience at the conference, attending curated educational sessions and two keystone presentations. “The opening session focused on navigating change and challenges with confidence,” said Lang. “Throughout the education sessions, I learned about overcoming self-doubt, the duties and responsibilities of nonprofit board members, and key strategies for becoming a confident leader.”
A highlight in the SNA Future Leaders Program was “Introduction to DiSC Profiles,” which explains four main personality types. “It provided an introspective look into my personality and leadership style, and how I work with others,” said Lang. “SNA will also be offering two follow-up sessions to DiSC, and I am looking forward to continuing that learning.”
In addition to the presentations and educational sessions, the Future Leaders Program offered an opportunity to network with other emerging leaders as well as seasoned SNA leaders and executives. “Overall, the conference provided valuable insight into leadership — not just as it related to serving on a board, but also in applying those skills within our department at the school district,” said Lang. “I made meaningful connections with board members from across the country, strengthening my network of school nutrition professionals.”
