PWHS Senior Justin Adler named PSMLA Student of the Year

The Pennsylvania State Modern Languages Association (PSMLA) has chosen Plymouth Whitemarsh High School (PWHS) Senior Justin Adler as the first place winner of its High School Graduating World Language Student Award.

The award is based on grade point average, participation in world language classes and activities, and a future career where he’ll use his world language skills.

At PWHS, Justin exhausted every Spanish and Latin course offered, even auditing the Advanced Placement Spanish Literature course outside of his regular schedule. During his sophomore year, he worked with PWHS administration to organize his own study abroad in Costa Rica. As a freshman, he also started the PW UNICEF Club, where he called his peers to action, raising thousands of dollars for nutrition programs, vaccinations, clean water initiatives and psychological support for children in crisis around the globe.

With his extensive language skills, he plans to pursue a career in medicine where he can treat underserved communities around the world through a program like Doctors Without Borders.

“His selfless and fearless leadership, dedication to humanitarian causes and passion for language make him an outstanding senior and member of our community,” said PWHS Spanish Teacher Katy Geare, who nominated Adler for the award. “Justin’s tireless efforts and relentless compassion for others inspire me and his classmates each and every day, and I couldn’t be more excited to see what he accomplishes in this next chapter of his life.”
