Philadelphia students get added mental health supports

As students at the School District of Philadelphia learn from home, they are grappling with the violence occurring in their neighborhoods. As reported in CBS Philly, the school district stepped in to help students cope. According to Abigail Gray, the district’s deputy chief for school climate and culture, the district is offering more mental health supports than it ever has, but all services are being offered virtually. Each school in the district, which is the largest school district in Pennsylvania, has its own mental health professional. Teachers are also meeting with students to look for red flags or pinpoint which students need extra supports.
