Norristown Area School District reached its one-millionth meal since moving to virtual learning in March 2020. Superintendent Christopher Dormer, the Food Services and Human Resources departments, administrators, and school board members were on hand from 3 to 6 p.m. to help provide 35,000 meals. “We are grateful that USDA and PDE have granted us waivers to allow us to feed all children in our community, thus providing assistance to families who have been financially impacted over these last six months,” said Superintendent Dormer.
In an article for the Times Herald, Superintendent Dormer said, “At Norristown Area School district we’re about people, and the best way to be about people is to be out there with everybody. A million meals for the 28 weeks we’ve been dealing with the pandemic is the equivalent of 4,000 children getting breakfast and lunch five days a week for all 28 weeks.”
