NHS students volunteer at Patriot’s Park

Several members of the MAHS NHS chapter will be volunteering at Patriot’s Park as part of the 25th Anniversary Remembrance of the Global War on Terrorism.
The names of 7,091 people who have died in military service since 9/11 were recited at the Post 9/11 U.S. Armed Forces Memorial in Stoystown, in remembrance of the 25th anniversary of the start of the U.S. military’s engagement in the Global War on Terrorism.
NHS members joined veterans, family members and other volunteers to read out the names of these fallen military members at the memorial to honor their sacrifice to the nation. October marks 25 years since the U.S. first “put boots on the ground in Afghanistan” in response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
NHS members who are planning to volunteer include: Kyleigh Blough, Brooke Sell, Sarah Hainsworth, Lillian Moore and Aurora Comfort.
“I am doing this event because the 9/11 event holds a special respect in my heart and I want to honor the heroes of that day,” explained Brooke Sell.
“I believe volunteering for this event is important because it is up to us to keep the names living and to always remember the lives lost,” added Lillian Moore.
Sarah Hainsworth said the opportunity to volunteer at this special event is a true honor: “I am volunteering at Patriot Park because it is a way to participate in something meaningful to the country and honor those affected by this tragic event.”
