Meyersdale Middle School named one of “Best Schools”

Meyersdale Middle School has earned a “Best Schools” ranking for a third year!
This ranking is due, in part, to test scoring; graduation rates; and preparation for high school. Additional factors include Reading and Math Proficiency Rates and Reading and Math performance. Overall, Meyersdale Middle School placed among the top 40% of middle schools in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
“Meyersdale Area Middle School has received this distinction for three consecutive years. I appreciate this honor because it rewards our students, faculty and staff for their hard work and dedication. In addition, it shows that our faculty and staff are consistently working toward our District’s mission of providing educational opportunities for each student to reach their respective potential,” said Dr. Wayne Miller, middle school principal.
Meyersdale Middle School has 12 full-time teachers and one full-time guidance counselor, and has a student-teacher ratio of 14:1. Meyersdale Middle School has 169 students in grades six through eight. The student population is made up of 46% female students and 54% male students. The school enrolls 51% economically disadvantaged students.
U.S. News analyzed more than 105,000 pre-K, elementary and middle schools. For each state, schools were assessed on their pupils’ proficiencies in mathematics and reading, as measured by state assessment tests. Rankings are based on socioeconomic demographics and state assessment results. Top-ranked schools are high-achieving schools that succeed in educating all of their students. All data for the rankings are from third-party sources, including the U.S. Department of Education.
