Meyersdale Middle School honored as a “Best School”
The Meyersdale Area Middle School has once again been designated a “Best School” in the most recent rankings of public middle schools by U.S. News & World Report! Meyersdale Middle School placed among the top 40% of middle schools in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Meyersdale Middle School earned a similar designation in 2021.
This ranking is due, in part, to test scoring, gradation rates and preparation for high school. In the most recent round of state-required testing, 62% of Meyersdale Middle School students scored at or above proficient in reading; and 37% scored at or above proficient in math. Overall, Meyersdale ranked at 165 in the state out of a total of 875 schools.
Meyersdale Middle School has 12 full-time teachers and one full-time guidance counselor and has a student-teacher ratio of 15:1. Meyersdale Middle School comprises 186 students in grades six through eight. The student population is made up of 49% female students and 51% male students. The school enrolls 57% economically disadvantaged students.
U.S. News analyzed 105,093 pre-K, elementary and middle schools. For each state, schools were assessed on their pupils’ proficiencies in mathematics and reading, as measured by state assessment tests. Rankings are based on socioeconomic demographics and state assessment results. Top-ranked schools are high achieving schools that succeed in educating all of their students. All data for the rankings are from third-party sources, including the U.S. Department of Education.
