Claysburg-Kimmel School District is helping students prepare for their future through the Mentorship for Success program. According to an article in the Bedford Gazette, Students in grades 11 and 12 are engaged through mentor visits or roundtable discussions on a variety of career-focused topics. They also visit local business partners for on-site presentations and mentoring sessions, leveraging the expertise of experienced professionals.

The program aims to strengthen key competencies, including:

• Career exploration and hands-on exposure

• Professional communication and networking skills

• Development of soft skills for workplace success

• Career awareness and goal-setting strategies

• Critical thinking and problem-solving confidence

This year, the program plans to include more healthcare opportunities because of student requests in this area. For students with specific job interests, the Claysburg-Kimmel guidance staff arrange individual mentoring sessions focused on their chosen career. Sessions are scheduled during monthly Activity Periods so as not to interfere with core academic classes. The overall goal is to prepare students for their next steps after high school graduation and foster the confidence to succeed.
