Veterans were treated to a special recognition parade at Maple Point Middle School in November. As part of the school’s Parade of Honor, veterans were invited to drive down the road leading to the school, which was lined with about 200 students and teachers applauding and shouting words of thanks in their honor. According to an article in Bucks Local News, the parade also featured a giant flag American painted on a hillside and also one displayed from a fire truck ladder, and a presentation of the flags representing the various branches of the military. The event was organized by Anne Schmidt, an eighth grade social studies teacher who has organized the celebration for the past two decades as part of the Veterans Day Committee.
Festivities also included a video, available for viewing on the school’s website, featuring parade footage along with the names of participating veterans and remarks by student, staff and community members.
