Lehighton wins national Trees for Troops award

Lehighton Area School District has been named a recipient of the 2021 Trees for Troops Spirit Award — one of four awards given nationwide by the Christmas Spirit Foundation. Founded by FedEx and the National Christmas Tree Association in 2005, the Trees for Troops program delivers thousands of Christmas trees, donated by American farm families and the public, to military bases in the U.S. and overseas. Since 2005, Trees for Troops has provided 243,955 Christmas trees! Lehighton’s Elementary Center has been involved with donations for over 10 years, and the other schools in the district have since followed. The district provided 445 trees in just the last three years alone.
