Keystone Oaks students showcase musical excellence at PMEA festivals

Students from Keystone Oaks Middle School and Keystone Oaks High School recently earned recognition for their musical talents by participating in six Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) festivals, as highlighted on the Keystone Oaks School District website.

Twenty students represented the district in a variety of prestigious regional, district and state-level ensembles, performing alongside some of Pennsylvania’s top young musicians and learning from accomplished conductors and music educators.

Among the district’s standout achievements, senior bassist Kate Moore performed as one of only two bassists selected for the PMEA All-State Concert Band. Senior bassoonist Lucy Brooke and junior French horn player Andreh De La Torre-Alvarado earned spots in the PMEA All-State Orchestra, with Brooke also being named principal bassoonist and performing multiple solos during the concert.

Additional students participated in the PMEA Junior High Orchestra Festival, PMEA Region 1 Band Festival, PMEA District 1 West Junior High Band Festival, PMEA District 1 Elementary Strings Festival and PMEA District 1 Elementary Band Festival. These opportunities allowed students across multiple grade levels to develop their skills while collaborating with talented peers from throughout the region and state.

Participation in PMEA festivals requires dedication, preparation and a commitment to excellence. Through these experiences, students strengthen their musicianship, build confidence and gain valuable performance experience in challenging and rewarding environments.
