Illuminating history and sharing the journey
From September 10 – 18, Classrooms Without Borders (CWB) hosted an exhibit in the Seneca Valley Intermediate High School called “For the Child – Stories of the Kindertransport.” This moving exhibit, open to students and staff in the district, showcased the poignant history of this humanitarian event that saved nearly 10,000 children from Nazi persecution between 1938 and 1939. Containing photographs on over 25 panels, it captures the intense emotions of separation and the hope for survival and a new beginning. Ms. Michele Russo, English Teacher and SV LIGHT Education Initiative Coordinator, was pleased that she could assist in providing such an opportunity for viewing. “The artifacts illuminate the strength and spirit of those that fought against hate and the resiliency of those who faced this adversity,” she explained.
