Giving Tree Helps Palmerton Families
During the month of December, the Giving Tree was alive and well at Parkside Education Center and S. S. Palmer Elementary School in the Palmerton Area School District (PASD). The Giving Tree is an annual tradition that provides PASD employees and community members with the opportunity to purchase gifts for local families in need. Donors could either sign up to purchase requested gifts or they could sponsor a gift with a monetary donation. This year’s Giving Tree helped more than 20 families, which included over 50 children. In total, more than 300 gifts were donated. One community organization, Raising the House, also sponsored several students on this year’s list.
“This year was difficult for many of our families. With everyday prices on the rise, our families were feeling that impact. The Giving Tree allowed people to provide a brighter holiday season to those who could use a little help. I am so grateful for the support of our employees, community members, and Raising the House. Coming together to help those in need is truly what it’s all about,” said Kristina Manning, Giving Tree organizer and one of Parkside/Palmer’s school counselors.
