Future World Language Educators

Last week, senior Blake Bliss and juniors Jose Tinoco and Connor Benson attended the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) Spring Methodology Conference at Chestnut Ridge Resort & Conference Center with Seneca Valley Intermediate High School world language teachers Ms. Julie Parenti and Ms. Christina Hollowood. These students, along with several others were applauded and recognized as the future of world language education.

Students listened to guest speakers, networked, asked questions and even stayed longer to ask the presenters for more information. After the conference concluded, SV students collaborated with Ms. Parenti and Ms. Hollowood to discuss ways of making Seneca Valley’s world language program even stronger by implementing some of the community outreach opportunities they learned and the possibility of forming a world language club.

“We are inspired by these students’ passion and enthusiasm for learning and giving back to their community,” said Ms. Hollowood. “It was an honor to have the opportunity to take them to this professional conference alongside fellow educators.”
